History moulds heritage, geography carves communities. As in everything, diversity brings both blessings and burden. If managed well, it brings benefits. If taken lightly, it could breed bedlam.

Given the challenges to regional social stability and security, it is imperative that communities must constantly and creatively seek ways to bring people together onto common grounds for the common good through common senses.

In line with ASEAN’s spirit for the promotion of regional peace, one constructive approach is to focus on natural and basic commonalities to help enhance existing ties and transactions between peoples of the regional
neighbourhood.
